“What specifically does a subcultural style signify to the members of the subculture themselves? The answer was that the appropriated objects ensembles were ‘made to reflect, express and ressonate aspects of group life. The objects chosen were, either intrinsically or in their adapted forms, homologous with the focal concerns, activities, group structure and collective self-image of the subculture. They were objects in which the subcultural members could see their central values held and reflected” (Hall, in HEBDIGE, 1979:114)
